This Privacy Policy describes how Kaguvi Automarket ("we", "our", "the platform") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website (kaguvistreet.co.zw) and our mobile application.
Who we are
Kaguvi Automarket is a marketplace operated from Kaguvi Street, Harare, Zimbabwe. We connect buyers of automotive parts with auto parts shops in Zimbabwe.
Information we collect
We collect only the information needed to operate the marketplace:
- Shop owner accounts: If you register as a shop on our platform, we collect your shop name, contact phone number (used for WhatsApp), shop location, and login credentials (email and password). Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text.
- Listing content: Photos, descriptions, prices, and vehicle compatibility information that shop owners upload for parts they sell.
- Buyer interactions: When you tap "Contact Shop" buttons, you are redirected to WhatsApp. We do not capture, log, or store the content of your WhatsApp conversations with shops.
- Browsing data: Standard web analytics (page views, search terms, device type) to improve the platform. This does not personally identify individual buyers.
What we do NOT collect
- We do not collect your real name unless you voluntarily register as a shop owner.
- We do not collect your precise location.
- We do not collect payment information — all transactions happen directly between buyer and shop, off-platform.
- We do not access your contacts, camera roll, microphone, or other device features beyond what's needed to upload a photo for a listing.
How we use your information
We use collected information to:
- Operate the marketplace and display listings to buyers
- Allow buyers to contact shops via WhatsApp
- Verify shop owner accounts and prevent fraud
- Improve search results and platform performance
How we share information
We do not sell your data. We share information only as follows:
- Public listings: Information shop owners post (part details, prices, photos, shop name, WhatsApp number) is publicly visible to anyone using the platform — that's the whole point of a marketplace.
- Service providers: We use Supabase (a database service) to securely store platform data, and Tiiny.host to serve the website. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy policies.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by Zimbabwean law or a valid legal request.
Data security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, secure password hashing (bcrypt), and Row-Level Security policies to protect data at rest. However, no system is 100% secure. You are responsible for keeping your account password confidential.
Data retention
We keep shop owner account data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account or remove a listing, we delete the associated data within 30 days, except where we are required to keep records for legal or fraud prevention reasons.
Children's privacy
Kaguvi Automarket is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can delete it.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Withdraw consent at any time by closing your account

Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app and the website. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
